Seed Oil Tracker ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy.
This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
Meal logs and backup: Food items, PUFA gram values, streaks, goals, favorites and custom
entries you create are stored on your device. They are also backed up to our servers under a random device
ID so you can recover them after reinstalling the app or switching phones. The backup has no name or email
attached to it. Turning cloud backup off in Settings > Data deletes the copy on our servers.
Feel check-ins: Your "How I feel" scores stay on your device. We only receive them if you
join the opt-in seed oil study. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
explains everything that counts as health data and how to see or delete it.
Community account: If you join Community, you sign in with Apple or Google. We store the
account identifier that service gives us (not your password), the username you choose, and the posts,
replies, likes and reports you make. Your username and posts are visible to other users.
Location (Near Me): If you allow location, your phone turns your approximate position into a
ZIP code and sends only that ZIP code to find nearby restaurants. We do not store your location or your
searches.
Push notifications: If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and
platform so we can send them.
Restaurant and menu requests: When you ask us to add a restaurant or a menu item, we store
what you typed, the time, and your app's random device ID (no name or email), so the app can tell you when we
add it. Your phone keeps its own list of what you asked for.
Petition and email list: If you sign a petition on our website, we store your first name,
state (optional) and email address. Your first name and state may appear on the petition page; your email
is never shown. If you opt in to updates, your email is added to our mailing list.
Purchase status: We store only whether you have an active premium subscription (yes/no).
We never store or process payment information. All billing is handled by Apple or Google.
Link clicks: When you tap a link from our website to the app stores, we record the page,
a campaign label, whether the device looked like a phone, and the time. We never store your IP address
with it, and these records delete themselves after 180 days.
Anonymous usage stats: When this feature is switched on, the app sends a small number of
anonymous usage events to our analytics provider, Amplitude, so we can see which screens people use, where
they leave, and how often they come back. Each event carries a random ID generated on your device (it is not
your backup ID, Community account, email, or advertising ID), the name of the screen or feature used
(for example "Stats" or "Scan"), the chain name when you open a public chain page, the country you picked in
Settings, the app version, your platform (iOS or Android), and whether you have premium (yes/no). Amplitude
also sees your IP address on each request, which it uses to work out your country. We never send what you eat
or log, gram amounts, feel check-ins, health data, search text, your name, or your email. This is not used
for advertising and we do not track you across other apps or websites. You can turn it off any time in
Settings > Data > “Share anonymous usage stats”, which stops sending and deletes anything waiting
to be sent. Because the ID is random and not linked to you, we cannot look up one person's events later; turning the setting off is how you stop it.
Your year in seed oil (/year): When you drop a MyFitnessPal or Cronometer export on that page,
the file is read inside your own browser and never uploaded to us. If you choose to tap the button that compares
your restaurant meals to our numbers, only the restaurant food names are sent (no dates, amounts or the file),
and we do not save them.
AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients): When you ask an AI assistant about
restaurants through our connector or plugin (our MCP server at seedoiltracker.com/mcp) or through our /ai API,
the assistant sends us only the lookup itself: a chain name or search words, a country code and the ranking
options, plus the name and version of the assistant's software. We never receive your conversation, your
name, your email or your account with the assistant, and no sign-in is needed. We do not store these lookups
or link them to a person. Like every request to our website, they pass through Cloudflare and Render, whose
routine logs include the IP address and time; we use those only to keep the service secure and working, and
those companies keep them for a limited time under their own policies.
Error reports: Our servers may send technical error reports to help us fix bugs.
We do not use advertising trackers, ad pixels or session recording in the app or on our website.
