Same Chain, Different Country: What They Fry In
The same fries are not cooked in the same oil everywhere. These pages put one chain's fryer oil side by side, country by country, using only what the chain itself states in each country. No guesses.
| Chain | Countries stated | Different oils or blends |
|---|---|---|
| McDonald's | 39 | 7 |
| KFC | 14 | 5 |
| Five Guys | 9 | 1 |
| Burger King | 7 | 3 |
| Hesburger | 4 | 1 |
| Pizza Hut | 4 | 3 |
| Wendy's | 4 | 2 |
What counts as stated
A country is listed only when that country's own chain page, ingredient list, allergen guide or company statement names the fryer oil. Most chains in most countries publish nothing, and those are left out instead of filled in. A chain needs a stated oil in at least three countries to appear here. Every dated oil switch we know of is on the Oil History timeline, and fixes to our own numbers are on the corrections log.
